Yes. Whirl Designs is a web and software studio in Udupi, a short drive from Manipal, and we meet Manipal clients in person. We build admission and department portals, first versions of student and alumni startups, and phone-first sites for clinics, cafés, hostels and PG owners who depend on each new batch of students. Local business
Manipal (ಮಣಿಪಾಲ) is a campus town on a plateau about 5 km from Udupi's centre, high enough to look out to both the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats. The name comes from Manna Palla, Tulu for a muddy lake, and Manipal Lake is still there. The town was built around learning: Kasturba Medical College opened in 1953, and the Manipal Academy of Higher Education now has a 600-acre campus here. More than twenty-five thousand students arrive every year.
Health care is the second engine. Kasturba Hospital opened in 1969 as the teaching hospital of KMC. A large hospital brings a steady flow of patients and relatives who need rooms, meals, medicines and transport, often at short notice and with no local knowledge. That demand runs all year, unlike the student trade, which swells and thins with the academic calendar and its vacations.
Manipal also has a record of home-grown enterprise. Syndicate Bank was set up here in 1925 and kept its head office at Manipal until it merged into Canara Bank on 1 April 2020. In 1928 it began a pigmy deposit scheme that sent agents to the doorsteps of farmers and shopkeepers to collect small savings. Taking the service to the customer, instead of waiting at a counter, is still a useful idea for a Manipal business.
Visitors come for more than the campus. End Point Park sits at the edge of the plateau above the Swarna river, and the Hasta Shilpa Heritage Village on the Alevoor road, opened in 1997, keeps 18 old homes brought from Malnad, the Canara coast and North Karnataka. Local and regional buses stop at Tiger Circle and Syndicate Circle. A shop here serves three crowds at once: students, patients' families and weekend visitors, and each one searches in its own way.

Directions in Manipal are given by Tiger Circle, Syndicate Circle, End Point and the KMC or MIT gates. Mention the nearest one in your business description and on your contact page, because those are the words a newcomer types.
Manipal falls inside the Udupi City Municipal Council area. Writing 'Manipal, Udupi' in the listing and on the site lets searches for either place match you, without making two separate pages.
Choose the Google Business Profile category that fits what you sell most, such as 'Cafe', 'Hostel', 'Pharmacy', 'Medical laboratory', 'Copy shop' or 'Coaching center'. Add secondary categories only for services you really offer.
New students pick their regular cafés, rooms and shops in their first weeks. Update photos, prices and timings a month before the academic year starts, and post on your listing when you reopen after a vacation.

We come to your department, your office or a café near Tiger Circle, or you visit our studio in Udupi. The first question is who the users are and when they arrive.
A written plan names the smallest version worth launching, what it leaves out on purpose, and the date it must be ready, such as the start of term.
Every week or two you get a working link to try on your own phone. Feedback comes by WhatsApp or email, and every decision is kept in writing.
On launch day or a results day we watch the system as it runs, and we can drive over if something needs fixing in person.
You get the code, the accounts and plain notes on how it all fits. Keep us on for the next version, or take it in-house; the notes make either possible.
Questions
From ₹12,000, as a one-time setup fee, you get a site with no page limit. It starts with Home, About, Services, Gallery and Contact, and your PG can have more pages whenever you need them. Room photos go in the gallery, and the contact page carries WhatsApp, a Google Maps pin and a contact form. The site is mobile-friendly, served over https with SSL, and built on an SEO-ready structure with a basic SEO check. Online booking or rent payments would be quoted separately.
It can, if your material is ready: we launch in about 7 days from the day you send the text and photos. Basic content writing is part of the package. After launch you have 365 days of support, which carries you to the next year's intake.
You do, directly, and in your own business name. They are yearly costs that sit outside the ₹12,000 setup fee, and we help you register and connect them. Pages are unlimited, while a second language or online payments are quoted separately, and the final price depends on the features you choose.
Yes. We build a small first version that real users can sign up for and use, with login, roles and data handled properly from the start. We also tell founders when they do not need software yet, because a landing page and a form can test an idea sooner. The written plan says what the first version includes and what it leaves out.
Yes, as new work. We build admission, event, department and appointment portals with access by role and records that can be checked later. We have not built one for a Manipal institution yet, so we show you our closest work, such as the role-based access in Facet and the staff permissions in Jayalaxmi Jewellers' ERP, and explain how it applies.
For most services, a website or an installable web app is enough. A store app makes sense when the same students open it several times a week for years, such as a campus transport or community tool. We ask that question first and recommend the simpler option when it does the job. An installable web app can be packaged for the Play Store later, as Nityanand Agro's is being now.
Yes. For Manipal we usually suggest English first, because students and parents come from across India and abroad, and Kannada pages can be added for local customers. We also make the address, timings and directions clear to somebody who arrived last week and does not yet know End Point from Tiger Circle.
Yes. Our studio is in Udupi, a short drive away, and we come to Manipal to kick off, to review each milestone and to be there on launch days. Between visits we work over WhatsApp, calls and shared links. The Udupi studio is our only one, and we would rather say that plainly.
You do. The code repository, domain, hosting and every service account are set up in your company's name, and all access is handed to you. That matters when investors ask about your technology, or when you hire your own developers, because nothing is tied to us.
